Hearing Loss Widespread in US

Researchers are concerned that Americans may be facing an “epidemic” of hearing loss. The data show that one in six, or approximately 29 million, adults have a degree of speech-frequency hearing loss, and some 55 million Americans have experienced high-frequency hearing loss in either one or both ears. Those numbers are expected to rise significantly in the coming years.
